Hello Friends,
We’re cruising along in Pisces Season which means we’re also getting ready to spring forward. (If you haven’t done this by the time you read this, do it now because you’re late.:) Spring forward always happens on my birthday, but this year it also is connected with a very early flight to Antigua from New Orleans. We fly out at 7:00 am, get to the airport at 5:00 am, and really that’s 4:00 am. The night before we’ll be dancing into the night for our nephew’s wedding, so my sleep score is definitely going to take a hit. The dancing part will be my focus.
This is when I channel those 20-somethings I told you about at The Plunge: I can sleep when I’m dead. That’s my strategy to stay present and enjoy the ride. Now the next part is the unknown. This is that trip I bid on at the Laura’s House fundraiser a year and a half ago and won. It’s been a mystery how this thing works since that time. You can’t call the resort. You have to talk through a third party contact, and when I say talk, I mean email because they never answer the phone. You do remember my India trip, right? What could go wrong?
But here’s the thing. This is all part of the full time traveling thing. When I was talking to a woman from a hotel on San Juan off the coast of Washington this week where we will go on our Pacific Northwest extravaganza next, she said “Sometimes the ferries are needed elsewhere. They’re kind of…um…” I piped in, “Fluid?” “Yes! Fluid is exactly the right word.” We went on to talk about how that works if you already have a hotel somewhere else and it’s non-refundable. The answer? Remain fluid.
And I’m reminded once again from Shine: Go with the flow, JR. Enjoy the present. It’s a gift, and the only real thing anyway.

Where in the world is the mermaid? New Orleans & Antigua
You have no idea how long I have been working on my look for Classic Old Hollywood/ Black Tie. Partly because that’s just such an awkward lane for me. These days my favorite clothes are Vuori Dreamknit collection pants and Beyond Yoga long sleeve shirts - in every color. That’s really all I want to wear. But I think Daniel would be upset with me if I showed up in my Vuoris, so I have been trying very hard to nail the look. My hair stylist told me I needed to find someone there to do my hair, a task that took 3 months. The concierge at the Waldorf Astoria (after 5 calls) said she’d help then totally dropped the ball “as she was very busy with Mardi Gras.” Finally someone I had found on Yelp called me back, and Kaitlynn showed up early for my Old Hollywood hair. I love Kaitlynn.
Where’s Next? Antigua
This officially marks our first trip to the Caribbean which I am so excited about. You know this mermaid is going to be swimming around this whole island. One of the things I fell in love with in Bali was our private dipping pool and each room at Hammock Cove has one. This place is so islandy, you can’t book any services in advance. All about the present.

View 202, Redding
Joe is doing a great job managing View, and I’m so happy about that because it went through a dark night there for a minute. But two trips there this visit and I’m happy to say, it’s delicious again. See for yourself.
Through Kai’s Eyes
I think my mom has lost her mind. She got me this fleece in case I get cold in the Pacific Northwest, but Dad just thinks it makes me look like a fluffy lion. Mom says the hunter green makes my eyes pop. Dad’s holding to the lion comment. I usually don’t wear clothes, but I do like it when my eyes pop.
Mystical Mermaid Musings: Diving Deeper Into You
Being present. How do you do with that? What types of tools do you use to bring you into the present moment? Breath work? Meditation? Singing? Music? One of the best ways I find to do this is to become aware of all your senses. Ask what do I see, smell, touch, hear, feel, intuit? Try it.
What Stories?
My Dead Friend Zoe
When we went to see this, I knew nothing about it. I didn’t even watch the trailer. Intuition made the choice. This is such an important film, and it is tied to a foundation to help prevent veteran’s suicide. It’s not like other films I’ve seen on this topic, and you will find yourself smiling, crying, and wanting to scan the QR code at the end. That’s all I’m going to say. Just go see it, and spread the word. You could save someone’s life.
